Emerald Gymnastics Club is proud to announce its very first Prize-Giving Event, a momentous Emerald Gymnastics Club is proud to announce its very first Prize-Giving Event — a momentous milestone marking a year of growth, resilience, and achievement.
Founded with the vision to create opportunities for young gymnasts in Soweto, Emerald Gymnastics has spent the year building strength — not just in movement, but in confidence, teamwork, and self-belief. The prize-giving event celebrates these accomplishments, recognising every gymnast’s dedication both on and off the floor.
What to Expect
The event will feature performances, fun activities, and the presentation of special awards honouring excellence, perseverance, and team spirit. Parents, supporters, and community partners will join in celebrating the hard work and determination that have made this season truly extraordinary.
“This isn’t just about medals,” says founder Jennifer Mdluli. “It’s about celebrating progress, discipline, and the courage to keep trying. Every gymnast has grown in their own way, and that’s what this event is all about.”
A Celebration of Firsts
As Emerald Gymnastics wraps up its inaugural competitive year, this event is a proud reflection of how far the club has come — from its humble beginnings at community halls to becoming a hub of energy, mentorship, and athletic excellence.
One of the club’s dedicated coaches, Coach Thando, shared her own reflection:
“I only started gymnastics at the tender age of 8, and I’m proud to now be one of the coaches contributing to the progress of these young people. We’ve achieved such a big milestone — from attending our very first competition to growing our numbers and now hosting a prize-giving to celebrate all that hard work. It’s truly inspiring to see how far we’ve come.”
A Community Effort
The Emerald Gymnastics Club operates at Tladi Community Hall and Jabulani Safe Hub, with the goal of nurturing young talent and introducing the sport to more children in Soweto. Despite financial challenges, the club continues to thrive through community support and volunteer efforts. Many parents and coaches work together to ensure that every child has a chance to participate, even when resources are limited.
Through initiatives like the upcoming prize-giving, the club aims to raise awareness about gymnastics as a powerful tool for youth development — encouraging focus, confidence, and healthy living.
Supporting the Future of Gymnastics in Soweto
As part of its ongoing efforts to expand access to quality training and resources, Emerald Gymnastics is calling on community members, sponsors, and well-wishers to support the club’s growth. Donations will go toward purchasing equipment, uniforms, and competition fees for gymnasts preparing for the 2026 season.
