MBOMBELA, Mpumalanga – 13 May 2027 – The Mordecai Ndlovu Foundation (MNF) has taken a significant step toward advancing human rights advocacy in Mpumalanga following a strategic engagement with the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) Provincial Office aimed at exploring areas of collaboration and joint programming.
The high-level meeting, held on Tuesday, 13 May 2027, brought together representatives from both institutions to discuss coordinated strategies that will strengthen human rights initiatives across the province.
Representing the SAHRC were Ms. Margaret Salila, Advocacy and Research Officer, and Dr. Tembisa Leeuw, Human Rights Officer. The Mordecai Ndlovu Foundation was represented by its Executive Director, Mr. Mordecai Ndlovu.
Discussions focused on building a meaningful partnership that ensures human rights interventions are responsive, community-driven, and impactful. Both parties emphasized the importance of bridging the gap between grassroots communities and institutional mechanisms that promote justice, accountability, and constitutional rights.
“This partnership is about ensuring that human rights work goes beyond boardrooms and reaches communities on the ground in Mpumalanga,” said Mordecai Ndlovu. “Students, women, workers, and marginalized communities need access to information, support, and platforms that empower them to understand and claim their rights.”
SAHRC representatives welcomed the foundation’s commitment to community empowerment and highlighted potential areas for collaboration, including public education campaigns, monitoring and reporting of human rights violations, and broader community engagement initiatives.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to formalize areas of cooperation in the coming weeks as both organizations work toward strengthening human rights awareness and advocacy in the province.
The Mordecai Ndlovu Foundation has continued to position itself as a strong advocate for youth, women, and marginalized communities through initiatives focused on education, entrepreneurship, leadership development, and civic participation. Its engagement with the SAHRC signals a deliberate effort to deepen its contribution to human rights advancement in Mpumalanga.
Further updates regarding joint programs and collaborative initiatives are expected to be announced as the partnership develops.
