Pop-up station opens doors for public to learn about funding, compliance, and new health and wellness partnerships
MBOMBELA — Residents of Mbombela had the chance to engage directly with the National Lottery Commission this week during a pop-up station hosted at Crossing. The activation forms part of the Commission’s broader drive to bring its programs closer to local communities in Mpumalanga.
Staff from the National Lottery Commission’s Mpumalanga office were on site to explain how the lottery system works, outline funding opportunities, and answer questions from the public. The team emphasized that the office remains open to all community members who want to learn more about available programs and how to apply.
A key focus of the engagement was education around the guidelines for fundraising lotteries and the Lottery Law. Commission representatives explained how these frameworks play a meaningful role in ensuring transparency, accountability, and sustainable growth for community projects. For many local organizations, understanding the legal requirements is the first step to accessing funding and running compliant initiatives.
New collaboration on health and wellness
During the visit, it was announced that a local foundation has entered into collaboration with the Commission to expand education on health and wellness across Mpumalanga communities. The partnership aims to use lottery-funded programs and community outreach to promote healthy lifestyles, increase access to information, and support grassroots wellness initiatives.
“This kind of direct engagement matters,” a Commission representative said. “When communities understand both the opportunities and the responsibilities under the law, we see stronger projects that create real impact.”
The foundation noted that health and wellness education is critical for community development, and working with the National Lottery Commission will help reach more people through existing funding channels and public programs.
How to get involved
The National Lottery Commission’s Mpumalanga office encourages local organizations, NPOs, and community members to visit the office to learn about:
- Funding opportunities available through the lottery distribution process
- Compliance requirements under the Lottery Law and fundraising guidelines
- Support for community programs including education, health, sports, and social development
Officials said the goal is to make information accessible so more local projects can benefit and grow.
For Mbombela residents who missed the pop-up at Crossing, the Commission’s Mpumalanga office remains open to the public for walk-ins and enquiries.
