SRINP Challenge 2026 Empowers Innovation in Sedibeng

The Sedibeng Regional Innovation Networking Platform (SRINP) Challenge 2026 recently concluded at Evaton, marking a significant milestone in the region’s innovation journey. This flagship initiative, driven by the Department of Science and Innovation and CSIR, aims to catalyze regional growth through cutting-edge solutions and collaborative support.

Over two days, nine dynamic companies pitched their groundbreaking ideas to a stellar panel of judges, showcasing the best of Sedibeng’s innovation ecosystem. The finalists included Fresh Farm Connect, Mind Shift, Uphill Energy Co., Walk Worthy, Smart Pen Tec, Community Water, Thula Itguna, Eco Shred, and Livre.

The judges, comprising industry experts Edmund Sunkutu, Tumisho Thobejane, Mordecai Ndlovu (Chief Information Officer, A1 ICT Trading Pty Ltd.), and Boitumelo Dlomo, were impressed by the caliber of pitches.

1st Runner-Up: Eco Shred – Championing sustainable waste management
2nd Runner-Up: Fresh Farm Connect – Transforming agriculture through connectivity

Special guests, including Sipho Nkosi from VUT, underscored the importance of bridging academia and industry. “Events like these ignite the spark needed to turn ideas into impactful solutions,” Nkosi said.

Project Manager Neville Erasmus emphasized, “SRINP is about building a thriving ecosystem where innovators get the support they need to scale.”

The SRINP Challenge 2026 has set the stage for Sedibeng’s future innovators. As these trailblazers move forward, the region eagerly anticipates their next breakthrough.
