SANCA Lowveld Outpatient Rehab Centre recently visited St Marks School in Mpumalanga as part of a collaborative effort to bring practical solutions to local schools. The visit focused on learner development, prevention, and support systems for youth facing social challenges.
Mordecai Ndlovu, representing the Mordecai Ndlovu Foundation, was present and actively involved in discussions around learner development programs. The Foundation works to empower youth through mentorship, skills development, and educational support.
SANCA Lowveld was represented by General Manager Marina Erasmus, Supervisor Charleen Van Dort, and Prevention Coordinator Sibusiso Mthembu. During the visit, the team outlined their key outreach programs aimed at early intervention and family support.
For learners, SANCA runs the “I Can” program — an early intervention initiative that assists through individual and group support. For parents, the “We Can” program focuses on building parental skills to strengthen family structures and support learners at home. Both are ongoing programs designed for long-term impact.
SANCA Lowveld has committed to supporting St Marks for the next three months, rolling out the “I Can” and “We Can” programs along with awareness campaigns and prevention activities tailored to the school’s needs.
The engagement highlighted the importance of partnerships between rehabilitation centers, NGOs, and schools in creating safer, more supportive environments for learners. Both SANCA Lowveld and the Mordecai Ndlovu Foundation reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing collaboration across the province.
