In a powerful display of community collaboration and youth empowerment, the Social Equity Program took place from August 25–29, 2025, at 480 Mmapheke Street, Motsu Section, Tembisa. The event brought together over 100 young people eager to learn, grow, and transform their futures. Organized by the Mordecai Ndlovu Foundation and Thato One Big Family LGBTQIA+ Society, the initiative was made possible through the support of the Zurich Foundation, Junior Achievement South Africa, JA Africa, and JA Worldwide.
Building Skills, Shaping Futures
The Social Equity Program focused on empowering young people with essential tools for work readiness and entrepreneurship. Participants were exposed to practical training, mentorship, and personal development sessions designed to boost confidence, enhance employability, and spark innovative thinking.
By the end of the week, youth participants walked away with not just new skills but a renewed belief in their potential. The sessions emphasized leadership, financial literacy, career planning, and entrepreneurial thinking—core ingredients for success in today’s evolving economy.
A Testament to Collaboration
The success of the program highlights the power of strategic partnerships and community engagement. The Mordecai Ndlovu Foundation played a key role in bringing together various organizations and stakeholders, all united by a common goal: to invest in the youth of Tembisa.
“This initiative showed what’s possible when we collaborate with purpose,” said a spokesperson from the Foundation. “We saw energy, ideas, and passion—proof that the future of Tembisa is bright when we support our youth.”
The impact was evident not only in attendance numbers but in the active participation and feedback from the youth. Many shared how the program had opened their eyes to new career paths, business ideas, and personal growth opportunities they had never imagined before.
Parents, community leaders, and local organizations also echoed their support, applauding the program’s relevance and lasting value.
Looking Ahead
Encouraged by the success of this initiative, the Mordecai Ndlovu Foundation is committed to expanding its reach and launching similar programs in the near future. The goal is clear: to equip the next generation with the skills, mindset, and support needed to thrive in a changing world.
The Social Equity Program is more than a training event—it’s a movement toward opportunity, inclusion, and empowerment. Through strong partnerships and a focus on meaningful impact, the Mordecai Ndlovu Foundation and its collaborators are helping to create a future where every young person in Tembisa has the chance to succeed.
