Soweto, South Africa — The 1st Annual Choral Indigenous Music Awards (CIMA) 2025, a much-anticipated celebration of indigenous choral music, has officially been postponed to Sunday, 6 July 2025. Originally set for May, the event will now take place at 13:00 at the iconic Gibson Kente Theatre at Soweto Theatre.
The postponement comes with a silver lining—voting lines have been extended, giving supporters across the country more time to vote for their favorite choirs, soloists, and composers in this historic celebration of cultural excellence.
“This move allows us to ensure a truly unforgettable experience for all our guests and participants,” said the organizing team. “And more importantly, it gives the public more time to make their voices heard.”
CIMA 2025 Voting Categories Include:
- Best Indigenous Choir
- Best Indigenous Choral Composition (Mzilikazi Khumalo Award)
- Best Indigenous Vocal Performance (Solo or Group)
- Best Fusion Performance
