The Christian Women Entrepreneur Network of Africa (CWENA) has officially opened nominations for the African Women Entrepreneurs Awards 2025, a distinguished recognition celebrating the achievements and leadership of women who are transforming businesses and communities across the continent.
The awards will be presented during CWENA’s 13th Annual Business Conference & Gala Awards Dinner, which will take place from 6–8 November 2025 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Empowering Women, Building Africa
Under the visionary leadership of Coach Diva Josi (Josiane Tchoumeni Gagoum), Co-founder and Executive Director of CWENA, the organization has become a powerful movement for empowerment, mentorship, and faith-based leadership.
Since its inception, CWENA has positively impacted more than 16,000 women across Africa through its entrepreneurship training, mentorship programs, and business networking initiatives. Since 2013, the organization has hosted annual conferences that inspire women to pursue excellence and innovation in business. Through these efforts, CWENA has trained thousands of women, built sustainable business networks, and empowered many to start and grow their own ventures.
In recognition of its impact, CWENA received the 2020 South Africa Heroes Award in the Business Empowerment category.
CWENA’s Mission and Objectives
CWENA’s mission is centered on raising women’s participation in economic development and equipping them with the tools to create lasting change in their communities. Its objectives include providing effective entrepreneurship training and empowerment programs, facilitating knowledge enhancement to build confidence and competence, and creating supportive platforms that open new business opportunities for women across Africa.
Beyond business, CWENA integrates Christian-based inspiration into its programs, motivating women to discover their God-given potential and lead with purpose and integrity.
Strategic Vision and Growth Framework
CWENA’s growth and sustainability are guided by a clear strategic framework designed to strengthen its reach and impact across the continent. The organization is expanding its networks in South, East, and West Africa, with established chapters in South Africa, Kenya, and Cameroon.
Its two-tier empowerment model focuses on training women to build sustainable businesses while fostering networking opportunities for collaboration and growth. Long-term resource sustainability is achieved through partnerships with stakeholders and the strengthening of institutional management systems — investing in human capital, strategic planning, and supportive governance frameworks.
